The Cards hold no magic, the Runes have no secret
That's not found within you - if only you'll seek it.
SUMMARY:
Tarot Cards, Norse Runes and other magical tools have no intrinsic
power in and of themselves. Only when they are used by You do they
"manifest" power. Your power.
LECTURE:
Many people are under the impression that a deck of Tarot cards
has magical powers to affect the seen and reveal the unseen. Others
feel that the Runes hold the mystical secret that they are looking
for to bring true happiness to their lives.
I don't believe this.
Neither Tarot cards nor Runes nor other magical devices can independently
wield the power to change the world around them. This is because
they lack the Directive Force (see #16, Direction)
of magic, Will.
The function as tools and can focus, direct, transform and amplify
power when used correctly, but they don't just do it by themselves.
A lens can change a diffuse light into a powerful beam, but the
lens itself is not a source of power, only a tool that focuses it.
Here are some examples of what I mean:
- Dynamite - While it can cause great change when used properly,
but it does not exhibit it's power unless properly (or improperly)
used. Otherwise, it is just a relatively inert object.
Many items over time accumulate energy from their surroundings.
Family hierlooms, sentimenal objects, cherished tools, practiced
weapons and all sorts of things will pick up the emotional and "personal"
energies of the people who care for them. This energy can be felt
(observed) or utilized (directed) by people working magic.
